Dion DiMucci stage play on the way
Written by admin on October 13, 2011 – 6:10 am -American playwright and director Chris Messina is writing a stage play about the life of Dion DiMucci.
The play will be titled “The Wanderer” in homage to Dion’s classic 1961 hit.
Dion has posted the following quote from Messina on his Facebook page:
“What I have tried to create is an entertaining and enlightening stage production based on the life and music of Dion. I wanted to get to the essence of Dion’s story — to the drama of it — as I experienced it thru my discussions with Dion, my evaluation of the facts of his life, his music, and my own approach as to what makes a theatrical production work. I was fascinated with Dion’s spiritual journey and I think this play is a glimpse into that journey.” |
“Dion has said his life is like The Sopranos with Great Music. I have called it RAGING BULL WITH MUSIC. A great story with great music, and a spiritually uplifting ending of hope.” |
Messina’s writing credits include the plays “Merging,” “Homeland” and “A Room of My Own,” and the movie screenplay “They’re Just My Friends.” He is also an experienced director, with credits including the big budget musical “Be My Love: The Mario Lanza Story” and “Twas The Night Before a Brooklyn Christmas.”
