Chuck Berry chosen as Rock Hall’s 17th American Music Master

The rock ‘n’ roll legend will be the subject of a weeklong celebration titled “Roll Over Beethoven: The Life and Music of Chuck Berry,” which will include interviews, panels, films, a keynote lecture, and a tribute concert at which Berry will perform. |
Chuck Berry has welcomed the honour:

“Roll Over Beethoven: The Life and Music of Chuck Berry” runs from October 22-27, concluding with the tribute concert at PlayhouseSquare’s State Theater in Cleveland. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will run the celebration in conjunction with Case Western Reserve University.
The American Music Masters series began in 1996. The previous recipients of the honour were Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew, Janis Joplin, Les Paul, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Sam Cooke, Lead Belly, Buddy Holly, Hank Williams, Bessie Smith, Muddy Waters, Louis Jordan, Robert Johnson, Jimmie Rodgers, and Woody Guthrie.
Chuck Berry was among the artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at its first induction ceremony in 1986.
