Ben E. King’s signature hit “Stand By Me” is Song of the Week on Classic Pop Icons. “Stand By Me” was released on single in May 1961, backed with “On The Horizon,” and also appeared on King’s 1962 album “Don’t Play That Song!”

This months sees the usual mix of reissues, compilations and new albums, including:

• several Elvis releases to coincide with the anniversary of his death, including an upgraded 2-DVD set of “The Great Performances” – Aug 2 (US/CA only)
• a number of Deep Purple live titles – Aug 16
• reissues of several Rory Gallagher albums – Aug 16
• Glen Campbell’s final album, available on CD and vinyl – Aug 30.
