“Blue Christmas” covers the well worn theme of being alone at Christmas through romantic misfortune. It was originally recorded by Doye O’Dell in 1948 and first a hit for Ernest Tubb the following year. Elvis recorded the song for his classic Christmas album in 1957. |

Song of the Week #32 – “Dock of the Bay”
Written by admin on December 13, 2010 – 9:27 am -Otis Redding’s biggest hit “Dock of the Bay” is Song of the Week on Classic Pop Icons.
“Dock of the Bay” was released on single in January 1968, backed with “Sweet Lorene.” Otis had tragically died on December 10, 1967 in a plane crash outside Madison, Wisconsin. This was the first posthumous release. The song also appeared on the album of the same name, which was released in February 1968. |
