New releases update – December

It’s a quieter month than usual as many top titles were released last month to coincide with the start of the Christmas shopping spree. Check the November 2011 releases page for those titles.

“That’s Alright, Elvis” – Scotty Moore memoir on Kindle
Written by admin on December 3, 2011 – 9:38 pm -| The excellent out-of-print “That’s Alright, Elvis: The Untold Story of Elvis’s First Guitarist and Manager, Scotty Moore” has been made available on Kindle by author James L. Dickerson.
The 1997 book is Scotty’s account (as told to Dickerson) of his long career, including his time playing guitar for Elvis Presley. The guitarist first encountered Elvis in 1954 when Sun Records’ producer Sam Phillips asked him and bass player Bill Black to rehearse with the then unknown teenager. The trio swiftly struck gold with the brilliant single “That’s All Right” which is regarded as one of the most important recordings in rock ‘n’ roll history. |

Dion DiMucci on Huckabee
Written by admin on November 25, 2011 – 2:52 pm -Dion DiMucci will appear on Huckabee on the Fox News Channel tomorrow (November 26) at 8pm ET. The show will be rebroadcast on Sunday at 11pm ET.
Dion told his Facebook group:

“Buddy Holly – Listen To Me” coming to PBS
Written by admin on October 29, 2011 – 5:34 pm -A star-studded tribute to Buddy Holly will air on PBS in December.
“Buddy Holly: Listen To Me/The Ultimate Buddy Party” includes performances from a Buddy Holly 75th Birthday tribute concert that took place at the Music Box in Hollywood on September 7. Among the artists featured in the special are Stevie Nicks, Chris Isaak, Lyle Lovett, Raul Malo, Graham Nash, Paul Anka, Phil Everly, Patrick Stump and James Burton. There are also taped messages from big name fans of Holly, including Ringo Starr, Keith Richards, Brian Wilson, Jackson Browne and Eric Idle.
