Jerry Leiber dies aged 78

Legendary songwriter, Jerry Leiber, died today of cardiopulmonary failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 78.

During Leiber’s 60-year songwriting partnership with Mike Stoller, the pair penned some of the most timeless and popular songs in rock ‘n’ roll history, including “Hound Dog,” “Yakety Yak,” “Love Potion No. 9,” “On Broadway” and “Jailhouse Rock.”

Marshall Grant dies aged 83

Legendary bass player, Marshall Grant, passed away on Saturday night (Aug 6) at a hospital in Arkansas. The 83-year-old was best known for his long association with Johnny Cash, during which he helped create the “boom-chicka-boom” sound that appeared on classic recordings such as “I Walk the Line” and “Folsom Prison Blues.”

Dan Peek of America dies aged 60

Dan Peek, co-founder of the folk rock band America, died on Sunday (July 24) at his home in Farmington, Missouri. He was 60-years-old.

Peek was born November 1, 1950 in Panama City, Florida, and formed America in the late 1960s with his high school friends Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell.

Amy Winehouse dies aged 27

Amy Winehouse Amy Winehouse was found dead today at her home in London, aged just 27. The cause of death is at present “unexplained”, but her history of problems with drink and drugs are well known.

E Street Band’s Clarence Clemons dies aged 69

Clarence Clemons sadly died tonight (June 18) from complications arising from the stroke that he suffered six days ago. He was 69.

Known by fans as The Big Man, Clemons will be best remembered as the saxophonist with Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band.
