Hal David dies aged 91
Written by admin on September 1, 2012 – 11:02 pm -Legendary lyricist Hal David died this morning (September 1) in Los Angeles of complications from a stroke. He was 91.
David will be most remembered for his many timeless hits penned with songwriting partner Burt Bacharach.
Harold Lane David was born in Manhattan, New York, on May 25, 1921. He was inspired to become a songwriter by his brother Mack, who wrote songs for the likes of Patti Page and Ella Fitzgerald. After serving in the army during World War II, David began working for the New York Post, but he hadn’t given up on his songwriting ambitions. His earliest successes came writing for band leader Sammy Kaye, and Guy Lombardo. He also collaborated with Morty Nevins on songs for the movie “Two Guys and a Guy” in 1951.

Scott McKenzie dies aged 73
Written by admin on August 20, 2012 – 10:15 pm -Scott McKenzie sadly passed away on Saturday (August 18) aged 73. The singer, best known for the 1967 smash hit “San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair),” had been in and out of hospital since being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome in 2010.

Deep Purple’s Jon Lord dies aged 71
Written by admin on July 16, 2012 – 11:30 pm -Founding member of Deep Purple, Jon Lord, has died aged 71. He suffered a pulmonary embolism at the London Clinic, after months battling pancreatic cancer.
The keyboard player formed Deep Purple in 1968 and went on to co-write some of the band’s most important recordings, including the classic “Smoke on the Water.” |

Kitty Wells – 1919-2012

Ex-Fleetwood Mac member Bob Welch dies aged 66
Written by admin on June 7, 2012 – 10:27 pm -Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist/vocalist, Bob Welch, died today at his home in Nashville. A police spokesman confirmed that Welch died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and that he did leave a suicide note. The 66-year-old had been suffering health problems for some time.
