Rainforest Fund 25th Anniversary Benefit Concert

The 25th anniversary of the Rainforest Fund will be celebrated in style next month with a benefit concert featuring Paul Simon, Sting, James Taylor, Dionne Warwick, Ivy Levan, Chris Botti, and Renée Fleming.

The Rainforest Fund has raised $35 million since established by Sting and his wife Trudie Styler in 1989. Originally formed to promote environmental preservation and to assist the ingidenous people who live in the Amazon rain forest, the organisation has since expanded to include projects in 23 countries, including Belize, Cameroon, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela.

Rolling Stones postpone shows following death of L’Wren Scott

The Rolling Stones have postponed seven shows in Australia/New Zealand following the sad death of Mick Jagger’s girlfriend L’Wren Scott.

Scott, a well known fashion designer who had been in a relationship with Jagger since 2001, died on Monday from an apparent suicide.

Dolly Parton and Blondie confirm Glastonbury shows

Dolly Parton and Blondie have both announced that they will perform at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Speaking on the red carpet of the NME Awards on Wednesday night, Debbie Harry told Metro: “We just heard today – we’re going to be doing Glastonbury.”

David Crosby has heart surgery

David Crosby has rescheduled tour dates after undergoing heart surgery last Friday.

The singer underwent a cardiac catheterization and angiogram, after a routine cardiac stress test revealed the left anterior coronary artery to be 90% blocked. Two stents were placed to provide blood flow to his heart muscle and he is expected to make a full recovery.

Prince to headline Glastonbury?

Prince will headline the Pyramid Stage on the final night of this year’s Glastonbury Festival, according to a source who spoke to the Daily Mirror.

The source says that Prince and Glastonbury organiser, Michael Eavis, have met up and agreed terms:

“They met in London and a deal was struck. The reaction towards Prince during his time in the capital has been immense and it cemented his desire to play at Glastonbury. He is determined to raise the bar and give a set to remember. There will be a few surprises in store.”
