Paul Simon planning EP of new songs

Written by admin on March 28, 2013 – 10:26 am -

Paul Simon says that he will follow-up his critically acclaimed 2011 album “So Beautiful or So What” with an EP of new songs.

He told Australia’s “Herald Sun” newspaper:

“I think it’s going to be an EP of about five tracks. I’ve written one song, which I’m really proud of. It’s a ballad with some really intricate guitar. I have some more ideas, but I think releasing something smaller will work. (The sound) is different altogether for me again.”

Simon is currently on his first Australian tour since 2009. He will play the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne tonight, and follow this with gigs in Newcastle (March 30), Byron Bay (April 1) and Sydney (April 2). He’ll then take his show to New Zealand with dates in Dunedin (April 6) and Auckland (April 8).

The Rolling Stones to headline Glastonbury

Written by admin on March 28, 2013 – 6:23 am -

After months of speculation it has been confirmed that The Rolling Stones will headline the Glastonbury Festival on Saturday, June 29. The Arctic Monkeys and Mumford & Sons will headline on the Friday and Sunday, respectively.

Mick Jagger told fans via Twitter:

“Can’t wait to play Glastonbury. I have my wellies and my yurt.”

Other acts announced for the three-day festival include Elvis Costello, Primal Scream, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Jake Bugg, Rita Ora, Billy Bragg, Rufus Wainwright, Smashing Pumpkins, Portishead, The Lumineers, Alabama Shakes, Chic, Public Enemy, Dinosaur Jr, Johnny Marr, Tom Tom Club, and Kenny Rogers.

The Rolling Stones performed a series of very successful 50th anniversary gigs recently, which included a brief reunion with former member Bill Wyman. As Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings are due to play the acoustic stage at Glastonbury, perhaps another reunion with his former bandmates is on the cards.

Other artists scheduled for acoustic sets at Glastonbury include Stevie Winwood, Sinead O’Connor, The Proclaimers, and the always entertaining KT Tunstall.

Glastonbury is already a sell-out with around 135,000 tickets sold in less that two hours. The television coverage will be the best ever though, with the BBC broadcasting the whole event live.

The complete line-up can be viewed on the Glastonbury website.
