Graceland hosts Elvis auction
Written by admin on August 15, 2014 – 6:18 pm -Thousands of fans have been in Memphis over the past week to celebrate Elvis Presley’s life, 37 years after he died at Graceland. One of the highlights of this year’s Elvis Week was the first ever Elvis auction at the Graceland Archive Studio on Thursday.
All items were from third party sellers, including rare artifacts from the collection of Greg Page, founding member of The Wiggles®. The biggest seller was a gemstone, diamond and gold lion mask pendant that was worn often by Elvis, including during his visit with President Nixon at The White House ($67,000). An opal and diamond ring purchased by Elvis for Ginger Alden in 1976 also attracted big money ($31,000).

Elvis Presley’s “That’s All Right” – 60th anniversary
Written by admin on July 5, 2014 – 8:56 am -We are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the day that Elvis Presley recorded “That’s All Right” and kick-started one of the most remarkable careers in music history.
Elvis’ timeless reworking of the Arthur “Big Boy” Crudup blues song was recorded during a try out at Sam Phillips’ Sun Studio in Memphis, TN on July 5, 1954.

“Elvis: That’s The Way It Is” 10-disc deluxe edition out in August
Written by admin on June 5, 2014 – 3:21 pm -SONY/RCA/Legacy Recordings have announced that they will release a 10-disc deluxe box set featuring material recorded during the filming of the 1970 documentary “Elvis: That’s The Way It Is”. The set will include an expanded version of the original album, complete with outtakes and singles; six live shows from the summer 1970 Vegas season at which the movie was filmed; recordings made during rehearsals for the Vegas season; and DVDs featuring both the original 1970 theatrical version of the movie and the 2001 Special Edition. The set also comes with an 80-page booklet which includes rare photographs, memorabilia and recording data.

Scotty Moore and the Guitar that Changed the World

The radio special celebrates the 60th anniversary of “That’s All Right,” the first professional recording of Elvis Presley’s career and one of the most important songs in the history of rock ‘n’ roll.
