Bob Dylan’s Newport Folk Festival guitar up for auction
Written by admin on November 14, 2013 – 1:41 pm -The guitar that Bob Dylan famously plugged in at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival will be sold at Christie’s in New York on December 6. The sunburst Fender Stratocaster is expected to sell for around $500,000.
Bob Dylan accidentally left the guitar on a private plane that was being flown by Vic Quinto in the 1960s, and it has been in the possession of Quinto’s family ever since. Quinto’s daughter, Dawn Paterson, asserts that Dylan’s management company never responded to her father’s questions of what to do with the guitar.
After confirming the authenticity of the guitar on the PBS show “History Detectives” last year, Paterson ended a legal dispute with Dylan earlier this year which allowed her to sell the guitar and the lyric sheets that were found in the case. The five handwritten and typed sheets include fragments of lyrics that would later feature in songs including “Absolutely Sweet Marie” and “In the Darkness of Your Room”. The lyric sheets are expected to sell for $3,000 to $5,0000.
Further information on the sale is available at Christie’s website

Written by admin on April 20, 2013 – 7:18 pm -A huge collection of Beach Boys memorabilia is up for auction by the London-based Fame Bureau. The items were apparently placed in a storage facility in Florida in the 1970s by a Beach Boys family member. The exciting find came to light when the storage company sold off the contents of the boxes because payments had not been made.
