Annette Funicello, member of the original Mickey Mouse Club and star of the 1960s Beach Party movies, died yesterday (April 8) at Mercy Southwest Hospital in Bakersfield, California after a long struggle with multiple sclerosis. She was surrounded by her family and longtime friend Shelley Fabares.

The hit show “Jersey Boys” has celebrated its fifth anniversary in Las Vegas by presenting a star to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons on the “Las Vegas Walk of Stars”.

The original Four Seasons group members Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio were at the event to receive the honour.

Recordings by Janis Joplin (with Big Brother and the Holding Company), Simon & Garfunkel, Chubby Checker, and The Ramones are among the latest additions to the Libary of Congress’ National Recording Registry.

Every year, the National Recording Preservation Board selects 25 recordings annually that are “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” and are at least 10 years old.
