Scott McKenzie dies aged 73
Written by admin on August 20, 2012 – 10:15 pm -Scott McKenzie sadly passed away on Saturday (August 18) aged 73. The singer, best known for the 1967 smash hit “San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair),” had been in and out of hospital since being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome in 2010.

Beach Boys 50th anniversary releases – round-up
Written by admin on August 20, 2012 – 7:51 am -The Beach Boys’ 50th anniversary celebrations continue next month with the release of two greatest hits collections and remastered editions of 12 Beach Boys albums.
The single disc “The Beach Boys: Greatest Hits” features 20 of the band’s most popular songs, including “California Girls,” “Good Vibrations,” “Surfin’ U.S.A.,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “God Only Knows,” “Kokomo,” and their latest single “That’s Why God Made The Radio”.

Ed Sullivan’s Top Performers on PBS

The special, produced by TJL Productions in association with SOFA Entertainment, includes performances from some of the biggest acts of the 1960s, including The Beatles, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, and Tom Jones.

The Monkees announce US tour
Written by admin on August 8, 2012 – 4:37 pm -The surviving members of the Monkees are hitting the road for a 12-date US tour in November.
This will be the first time that Mike Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork have played together since 1997, and the band’s first live performance since Davy Jones’ sad death in February.

Jon Favreau to direct Jersey Boys movie
Written by admin on August 8, 2012 – 4:31 pm -Casting has begun for the lead roles in a film version of the hit stage musical “Jersey Boys”. The movie will be directed by Jon Favreau, whose previous directorial credits include “Iron Man,” “Cowboys & Aliens” and “Elf”.
“Jersey Boys” tells the story of the rise to fame of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The show debuted on Broadway in 2005 and won four Tony awards, including Best Musical. The show opened in London’s West End in 2008 and won the Olivier award for Best New Musical.
