Carole King and James Taylor – tour and CD/DVD details
Written by admin on June 16, 2010 – 11:31 pm -James Taylor and Carole King played Madison Square Garden to good reviews on Tuesday night as part of their “Troubadour Reunion Tour”.
The tour seeks to recapture the mood of their early 1970s performances at the Troubadour Club in Los Angeles, when the pioneering pair were setting songwriting standards that few have eclipsed. |
The Madison Square Garden show was performed in the round on a slowly rotating stage and a total of 27 songs were performed. The focus was on 1960s and early 1970s soft rock standards, for this was a night for nostalgia. Stand out performances included a duet on “You’ve Got a Friend” and King’s version of “Will You Love Me Tomorrow?”, which she had written for the Shirelles in 1960.
