Blondie Blondie drummer, Clem Burke, has said that a new Blondie album will be released in 2011. The band’s ninth studio album was recorded at the end of 2009 in Woodstock, New York, and will be titled “Panic of Girls.”

“Panic of Girls” was originally scheduled for a summer 2010 release.

Those of you who have caught Blondie in concert this summer may have heard some of the “Panic of Girls” material, as the band have included several songs in the set, including “What I Heard,” “The End” and “Mother.”

Burke told Straight.com:

“We tried to make the recording process as organic as possible and tried to stay away from programming as much as we could, because [The Curse of Blondie] had a lot of programming on it. So in the spirit of Woodstock, we kept going in the studio and playing.”

Burke also reflected on the New York punk scene of the mid-1970s, where Blondie played alongside bands such as the Ramones and Talking Heads at the legendary CBGB bar in Manhattan:

“A good analogy is a workshop, the way actors have workshops. You’re able to screw up in public, which we did often, which a lot of the bands did…”

“I like to think that the sound of Blondie is kind of like ‘the CBGB sound’ – an assimilation of everything that was going on back then. As we move forward, we kind of carry that torch.”

“Panic of Girls” will be the third album of original material from Blondie since they reformed in 1997. It follows “No Exit” (1999) and “The Curse of Blondie” (2003).
