Billy pulls plug on “Book of Joel”

Joel was reportedly paid an advance of $3 million to write the book, which he now plans to return to publisher HarperCollins. |

In a statement, Joel said:
| “It took working on writing a book to make me realize that I’m not all that interested in talking about the past, and that the best expression of my life and its ups and downs has been and remains my music.” |
Joel isn’t the first star to back out of a book deal, but to do so at this late stage, when the book was completed, is unexpected and disappointing. Let’s hope he changes his mind and the book sees the light of day at some point.
There’s some good news for Joel fans, as this month sees the release of the Blu-ray edition of “Billy Joel – Live at Shea Stadium.” This features footage from Joel’s concerts at Shea Stadium on July 16 and July 18, 2008, with special guests including Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett, Garth Brooks, John Mayer, John Mellencamp, Steven Tyler and Roger Daltrey. DVD and CD/DVD editions were released last month.
