Another 70th birthday tribute for John Lennon

A star-studded line up will gather to pay tribute to John Lennon at a benefit gig at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on November 12. Among the artists scheduled to perform are Cyndi Lauper, Jackson Browne, Patti Smith and Aimee Mann.
The event will mark John Lennon’s 70th birthday, which the late star would have celebrated on October 9. |
The show will benefit the Playing For Change Foundation, which provides resources to musicians and their communities around the world and strives to promote peace through music.

Yoko Ono has also announced two tribute concerts on October 1 and 2 at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, titled the “We Are Plastic Ono Band” shows. Top of the bill will be Lady Gaga and Iggy Pop.

The City of Liverpool will be paying a series of tributes to John Lennon over two months, from October to December. The John Lennon Tribute Season will include a birthday celebration at the Cavern Club on 9 October and the ‘Lennon Remembered’ tribute concert at the 11,000 seat Echo Arena on 9 December.

Don’t forget that October 5 will see a major series of John Lennon releases, including remasters of each of his solo albums (available individually or as 12-CD box set), a greatest hits CD and a 4-CD package of rarities.
