iTunes debut for Beatles “Anthology” albums
Written by admin on May 31, 2011 – 9:31 pm -The trio of two-CD sets originally released in conjunction with The Beatles’ mid-90s “Anthology” series will be available as remastered downloads exclusively from iTunes on June 14.
Anthology 1, 2 and 3 will be available individually ($29.99/£17.99 each) or as a set ($79.99/£44.99). Individual tracks will cost $1.29 each.
The three-part Anthology series was a goldmine of unreleased tracks and rarities when first released, including material cut in Hamburg, Decca auditions and alternate takes of classic songs. Also featured were the songs “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love” which were demos from John Lennon that were completed by the remaining Beatles for the Anthology project.
Last November saw the long awaited debut of The Beatles’ catalogue on iTunes and there have been eight million songs downloaded since the launch.
