This week saw the release of Bruce Springsteen’s “The Promise: The Making of Darkness On The Edge of Town” on DVD/Blu-ray. The award-winning, 90-minute documentary was an integral part of last year’s six disc “The Darkness on the Edge of Town Story” box set.
“The Promise: The Making of Darkness On The Edge of Town” tells the story of the making of Springsteen’s classic 1978 album through the use of previously unseen archive footage of Springsteen and the E Street band, and new interviews with those involved in the making of the album, including Springsteen. |

In addition to the documentary, the new release includes five tracks from the “Songs From the Promise” concert filmed in Asbury Park, NJ last December:
- “Racing in the Street (’78)
- “Gotta Get That Feeling”
- “Ain’t Good Enough For You”
- “The Promise”
- “Blue Christmas.”

There is also a 22-minute Q&A session with Springsteen, hosted by music critic and Springsteen biographer Dave Marsh.
