Tom Jones Sir Tom Jones will perform his critically acclaimed “Praise and Blame” album at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on January 17 as part of the 2011 Celtic Connections festival.

“Praise and Blame” was released last summer and hit number two on the UK album chart. This was Jones’ debut release for Island Records and deservedly received some of the best reviews of his long career.

The annual Celtic Connections festival, now in its 18th year, kicks off today and runs until January 30. Jones is one of 1,500 artists who will appear during the festival’s 300 concerts, workshops and free events in 14 venues across the city.

Donald Shaw, Celtic Connections artistic director, said:

“Tom Jones is a true musical icon, and we are honoured to be able to bring him to Celtic Connections. This January, the festival pays tribute to the influence of the great gospel tradition, and Tom Jones’ performance of his stunning gospel, roots and blues album, Praise and Blame, forms part of this strand.”

Jones will also be appearing at this year’s Isle of Wight festival on Saturday, June 11. Click here for ticket information.
