Bruce Springsteen “Darkness” documentary on HBO

Tonight (Oct 7) sees the debut of “The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town” on HBO (9:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT). The documentary chronicles the making of one of Bruce Springsteen’s most critically acclaimed albums through in-studio footage, home movies and interviews with the band.

After the debut tonight, there will be multiple screenings of the documentary on HBO over the coming week:
- HBO playdates – Oct 12 (3:30 p.m., 12:30 a.m.), 16 (11:30 p.m.), 21 (10:30 a.m., 1:55 a.m.), 24 (5:00 p.m.) and 30 (2:00 p.m.)
- HBO2 playdates: Oct. 8 (8:00 p.m.), 10 (3:30 p.m., 12:20 a.m.), 13 (4:55 a.m.) and 18 (9:30 p.m.).
The documentary will also form part of the highly anticipated 3CD/3DVD (or 3 Blu-ray) box set “The Promise: The Darkness on the Edge of Town Story” which will be released on November 16. The box set will feature a remastered version of the album, 21 previously-unreleased songs from the “Darkness” recording sessions, and six hours of film, including the new documentary and vintage and modern performances. The unreleased tracks will also be released as a separate 2-CD set called “The Promise” for those whose budget won’t run to the full box set.
