Beatles Red and Blue albums remastered
Written by admin on September 15, 2010 – 10:09 pm -Following on from last year’s Beatles’ remasters collections, EMI will release remastered editions of the popular “Red” (1962-1966) and “Blue” (1967-1970) albums on October 19.
The 2-disc releases will include an expanded booklet with original liner notes, rare pictures, and essays by Bill Flanagan (editorial director and senior vice president at VH1). |
The Beatles Red and Blue albums were originally released in 1973 and have sold in vast quantities since, with the Red album going 15 times platinum in the US and the Blue album going 17 times platinum. These are greatest hits collections, with only songs composed by the Beatles included.
The remastering on the Red and Blue albums was done by the same team at Abbey Road who remastered last year’s releases. |

I was a little disappointed to see that the Red album has again been issued as a double CD. The entire program runs only 66 minutes which could easily fit on a single CD. This is a kind of disrespect to fans, although to be fair, Capitol is not charging the highway robbery rate that they did on the previous issues.
What’s frustrating is that a TWO cd set could have been justified with the inclusion of some terrific Beatles’ tracks like “I Saw Her Standing There,” “If I Fell” and others that were left off the original release.
Anyway, I have great sentiment for the original release because it helped me discover the band way back when.
