Elvis tribute show to benefit Myrna Smith
Written by admin on July 24, 2010 – 5:54 pm -Elvis Unlimited has announced that its Back In Memphis concert in August will now be a benefit concert for Myrna Smith of the Sweet Inspirations, who has been hospitalized in California. Smith recently suffered a stroke.
The Sweet Inspirations were Elvis’ backing singers in concert from 1969 to 1977. In recent years, Myrna has been a cast member of the Elvis The Concert show, which recreates the Elvis show by having Elvis on the big screen, backed by his original bandmates. |
Elvis Week takes place every year in Memphis during August to commemorate Elvis’ untimely death on August 16, 1977. The Back In Memphis Show will be held on August 12 at the Michael D. Rose Theater at the University Of Memphis, and is set to be one of the highlights of this year’s Elvis Week.
The Elvis Unlimited organisers have put together a great cast of musicians to celebrate Elvis’ life, including Billy Swan, Billy Burnette, Jerry Carrigan, Shane Keister, Reggie Young, Mike Leech and Dennis Jale.
There will also be a mini convention before the show for ticket holders only from 6 PM to 8 PM where you will get the chance to meet a number of Elvis’ friends and associates, including Sandi Pichon, Sonny West and Charles Stone. |
Tickets to Back In Memphis cost 45.00 US Dollars for entry to the mini convention and show or 95.00 US Dollars for a VIP ticket that includes prime seating, a personal meet and greet with the cast backstage before the show, light refreshments, and a gift bag.
