Marvin Isley dies aged 56
Written by admin on June 7, 2010 – 9:32 pm -Marvin Isley, of the legendary Isley Brothers, died last night after years of ill health. He was 56-years-old.
Marvin joined his older brothers, Ronald and Ernie, in the Isley Brothers band in 1973 and the group recorded their platinum-selling “3 + 3” album, which was followed by a string of gold and platinum records throughout the remainder of the decade.
Marvin will be remembered for his cool bass work that helped make the group one of the finest funk bands of the era.
Here’s the Isley Brothers with “Who’s that Lady” from 1974.
Marvin Isley had stopped performing in 1996 because of complications from diabetes. He had suffered a stroke, had a kidney transplant, and lost both his legs and the use of his left hand.
Rest in peace Marvin Isley.
