Elvis Presley tops list of the most digitally streamed artists
Written by admin on October 3, 2013 – 9:49 am -Elvis Presley is number one on the SoundExchange list of the most digitally streamed artists of the past decade.
SoundExchange is a performance rights organisation that collects royalties from more than 2,000 digital music services, including satellite radio, streaming television services, Internet radio stations, and Internet music sites such as Last.fm.
Bruce Springsteen was second on the list, followed by Pearl Jam in third. The Beatles came in at number eight and the Grateful Dead at number 10.
Satellite radio has certainly impacted on the totals, with Elvis, Springsteen, Pearl Jam and the Grateful Dead all having dedicated channels on Sirius XM.
SoundExchange does not license on-demand services such as YouTube and Spotify, where listeners choose to play specific tracks.
The top 10 digitally streamed artists for 2003 to 2013 were:
- Elvis Presley
- Bruce Springsteen
- Pearl Jam
- Rihanna
- Drake
- Usher
- Lil Wayne
- The Beatles
- Taylor Swift
- Grateful Dead.
