New Springsteen concert DVD – Hyde Park
Written by admin on April 20, 2010 – 9:29 pm -Bruce Springsteen is releasing last year’s Hard Rock Calling Festival show on Blu-ray and DVD. “London Calling: Live In Hyde Park” will be available on June 22.
The Hard Rock Calling gig took place in Hyde Park, London, on June 28, 2009, just 24 hours after his sensational Glastonbury appearance. Springsteen took to the stage for around three hours and, with a nod to the venue, opened with the Clash’s “London Calling.” |
As a bonus, the DVD will also feature “The River” from the Glastonbury show and “Wrecking Ball” from the New Jersey Giants Stadium show later in the year.

I didn’t see Springsteen’s Hyde Park show, but we are in for a treat if it’s anything like as good as the previous night’s Glastonbury show. At Glastonbury, Springsteen performed a mammoth 2hr 40 set, enthralling the crowd with a perfectly paced and amazingly energetic show. “The River” was a real highlight, so its inclusion on this DVD is very welcome, especially as it doesn’t feature among the Hyde Park songs.
As a taster of what to expect, here’s some amateur footage of the gig.
Bruce Springsteen – “Glory Days”
This is the first live DVD featuring Bruce and the E-Street band since “Live in Barcelona” in 2003. Springsteen really seemed to be having a blast last year, so it’s great that a full show has been captured for posterity.
