Roger Waters to tour “The Wall”
Written by admin on April 13, 2010 – 7:27 am -| Founding member of Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, is playing the classic concept album “The Wall” on a 35-date tour of North America, starting in September.
The album was originally played in full by Pink Floyd in 1980 and 1981, and then famously by Waters as a solo project in Berlin in 1990. Waters is now revisiting the album after 20 years. |

This isn’t the first time Waters has toured a Pink Floyd album. He played “Dark Side of the Moon” on tour during 2006/08.
Waters spoke of his reasons for touring “The Wall” on his newly revamped website:
| “30 Years ago when I wrote The Wall I was a frightened young man. Well not that young, I was 36 years old. It took me a long time to get over my fears. Anyway, in the intervening years it has occurred to me that maybe the story of my fear and loss with it’s concomitant inevitable residue of ridicule, shame and punishment, provides an allegory for broader concerns.: Nationalism, racism, sexism, religion, Whatever! All these issues and ‘isms are driven by the same fears that drove my young life.” |

“The Wall” was released in November 1979 and spent 15 weeks at number one on the US album charts. “Another Brick in the Wall Part II” from the album was a worldwide hit, providing the band with a number one in many countries, including the US, UK and West Germany.

It’s rumoured that Waters will take “The Wall” to Europe in 2011, but no dates have been confirmed.
