EMI will release “The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars – 40th Anniversary Edition” on June 4 on CD and limited edition vinyl, which comes with a bonus audio DVD. The album has been remastered by the original Trident Studios’ engineer Ray Staff at London’s Air Studios.

The bonus DVD that comes with the vinyl edition will contain the 2012 remasters and also Ken Scott’s 2003 stereo and 5.1 mixes, including the previously unreleased “Moonage Daydream (instrumental),” “The Supermen,” “Velvet Goldmine” and “Sweet Head”.

The original album was released in June 1972 and remained in the UK album chart for two years, with a peak position of number five. The album was supported by the hit single “Starman” and a dynamic tour with the Spiders From Mars, which was the subject of the 1973 documentary “Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars”. The documentary featured footage from the final date of the tour at the Hammersmith Odeon on July 3, 1973, which was also the date that Bowie retired the Ziggy persona.
