Sandy Denny’s 1971 album, “North Star Grassman and The Ravens,” has been given the deluxe treatment, with rarities, unreleased tracks and a 16-page booklet. “North Star Grassman and The Ravens” was the first of a number of fine solo albums released by the late Sandy Denny following her departure from British folk pioneers “Fairport Convention.”

Disc one of the two disc set features the original album and previously unreleased bonus tracks, including an instrumental version of “Lord Bateman,” a demo version of “Next Time Around” and a duet with Richard Thompson titled “Walking The Floor Over You.”

The second disc contains twelve bonus tracks, including demo versions of songs which were previously only available on last year’s 19-CD box set, plus songs recorded for BBC Radio’s Bob Harris show in September 1971, “Blackwaterside” from the BBC’s Sounds On Sunday from November 1972, and four tracks recorded live at the Paris Theatre on March 25, 1972.

Denny fans will also be interested in an album of previously unreleased amateur recordings from August 1967. “19 Rupert Street” features a pre-fame Denny singing 12 tracks while relaxing with friends Alex and Patsy Campbell, and Casten Linde and his girlfriend. The tape was tracked down by David Cousins of The Strawbs, who took it to Abbey Road where he edited and mastered it with producer Chris Tsangarides.
