Showtime to air McCartney’s “The Love We Make”
Written by admin on July 20, 2011 – 4:46 pm -Showtime’s upcoming documentary, “The Love We Make,” will tell the story of the days following the 9/11 terrorist attack from Paul McCartney’s perspective.
McCartney was among thousands who found their flights grounded after the terrorist attack. He spent the next few days interacting with New Yorkers on the streets and making plans for the “Concert for New York City.”
McCartney teamed up with filmmakers Albert Maysles and Bradley Kaplan to capture these events, including the rehearsals for the benefit concert. The film also includes performances from the concert itself and backstage coverage of those who participated, including David Bowie, Harrison Ford, Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, President Bill Clinton, Sheryl Crow, Billy Joel, Elton John and many more.
Commenting on the documentary, McCartney said:
“It was an honor to be able to help New York and America at that time in its history,” said McCartney of the concert. “There was a feeling of shock and fear in the air that I thought we could help alleviate with music. And the fact that so many people stepped up to join us made for a very uplifting evening for us all.” |
“The Love We Make” airs on Showtime on September 10 at 9 pm ET/PT.
McCartney’s love affair with New York City continued last weekend with two hit-filled performances at Yankee Stadium.
