McCartney signed Hofner bass up for auction
Written by admin on March 15, 2010 – 9:53 pm -A Hofner electric bass guitar signed by Paul McCartney will be among 300 lots auctioned during the March Estates Auction by Fairfield Auction in Newtown, Conn. on March 21.
The 1967 Hofner electric bass guitar is signed on the pick guard by McCartney. It comes with a letter by Frank P. Garo, forensic handwriting examiner, testifying to the authenticity of the signature.
The condition of the instrument is described as “very good with some normal wear from use, a few replaced screws.”
The signed Hofner bass is valued at $3,000-$5,000.
Paul McCartney often used a Hofner bass during his time with The Beatles and still does to this day. Here’s Paul playing a Hofner bass in the famous rooftop concert in 1969.
