Brian Wilson, Chris Isaak, Imelda May, Stevie Nicks, Ringo Starr and Jeff Lynne are among the artists covering classic Buddy Holly songs on a new tribute CD titled “Listen to Me: Buddy Holly.” “Listen to Me: Buddy Holly” celebrates what would have been Buddy Holly’s 75th birthday on September 7. The rock ‘n’ roll legend died on February 3, 1959 in a tragic airplane crash that also claimed the lives of Ritchie Valens, the Big Bopper and the pilot.

If you think the concept sounds familiar, that is because a very similar project was released in June titled “Rave On Buddy Holly.” “Rave On Buddy Holly” featured an interesting mix of old and new artists, including Paul McCartney, Florence and the Machine, Cee-Lo Green and Lou Reed.
